Garshasp: The Monster Slayer is a hack-and-slash action platformer being made in the most unlikely of places: Iran. The creation of Dead Mage Studios in Tehran, it follows the mythical exploits of warrior Garshasp, who is mentioned in both Persian and Zoroastrian texts. This is even more shocking since it's still being made despite several internation sanctions against Iran. [more inside]

Croteam, developer of the Serious Sam series, has asked 3 indie studios to make spinoff games taking place in the Serious Sam universe These developers are Dutch duo Vlambeer of Super Crate Box fame; Be-Rad Entertainment, makers of Lame Castle; and Mommy's Best Games, who brought us the XBLA game Weapon of Choice. The games will be released, presumably for free, as the release date for Serious Same 3: BFE grows closer.

Crysis 2 Development Build leaked along with the master key for the game's online authentication system. The build contains a fully playable, nearly complete version of the game and the multiplayer component and is reportedly already seeing distribution through the usual channels. This comes 7 weeks before the game's official release date of March 22nd. [Via RPS]

EA/DICE has officially announced that the PC version of Battlefield 1943 and the Onslaught mode for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 have been canceled. This may come as no surprise to many after repeated delays, including when EA refunded BF1943 preorders. [Via] [more inside]

The minimum system requirements for Crysis 2 have been revealed. It appears that Crytek have learned from Crysis' inaccessibility for the average gamer and have decided to optimize this game a bit more. It also probably helps that they aren't rendering islands 2 miles away.[Via]

Monday Night Combat's release has been pushed back one week from January 17th to January 24th. It has been announced on the Steam forums that the official release date has been pushed back a full week, luckily enabling the game to release on a Monday still. The beta will continue to be available to preorders.
