My suggestion is in there under ” Baron, The ” ( playthisthing) which incidentally was recently mentioned in this post by emshort (spoiler warning for Adam Cadre ‘s Endless, Nameless ) as having been referenced in Anna Anthropy ‘s Rise of the Videogame Zinesters: How Freaks, Normals, Amateurs, Artists, Dreamers, Drop-outs, Queers, Housewives, and People Like You Are Taking Back an Art Form [...]

I had seen this elsewhere in my rss feed but somehow missed the gamefi post on it. It’s pretty great for a free web thing. I’ve been unable to beat it thus far, but only had a couple of cracks at it I was able to pass the “working for the man” phase, but not able [...]

When game designer Trey Reyher reached out for help with the monolith puzzle driving him up the wall, he contacted a friend who had worked on Fez. He received an disheartening reply: “Good luck with that. It’s practically impossible.” (spoilers, obvs)

FEZ is freaking amazing. If you have a 360 and $10, go get it. Just played straight for 5 and half hours after dinner pausing only briefly to tell the internets how rad it is.
Oh my god, yes. I’ve only had a chance to play for a couple hours so far, but am blown away. The first anti-cube I stumbled across, I started taking notes about a certain relationship between visible symbols, thinking it might be a clue for later, and only then realized there was a solvable puzzle right there in front of me. That’s pretty neat.

The idea to beat FreeCell sprang from a message posted by sci.math regular Russell Turpin on July 24, 1994, with the definitive title “FreeCell is NOT always winnable.” In his message, Turpin provided an example of an unwinnable FreeCell deal and asked fellow group members to help prove or disprove his gripe…Turpin’s proof-of-concept hand was indeed unwinnable, but it also wasn’t one of the 32,000 included in FreeCell—possibly for that reason…Ring had made up his mind. They would try to solve FreeCell. All 32,000 hands of it.

While @petermolydeux tells Vox Games that he won’t be able to attend the event, Peter Molyneux has already signed up to follow along online and, a source close to the matter tells us, is also considering going to the Brighton meeting. [...]

who killed videogames? (a ghost story) and its companion piece, a review of The Sims Social by Tim Rogers
The boy needs an editor badly if I’m going to be honest, but I still love his writing to bits. Bonus Tim Rogers wankery: his “review” of Shadows of the Damned -

Ok getting there with the ALL THE AUGS plan. Protip: You really, really don’t want Radar level 2 aug (at least if you’re playing on console). It makes the icons tiny so you can’t tell when there’s two guys standing next to each other and sometimes makes it harder to tell which way dudes are facing. On console anyways, having it is strictly worse than not having it.
Yeah, this is a weird unfeature of that aug. Depending on what you want the radar for it’s not all bad since planning for distant enemies can be handy, but it’s still a surprisingly crappy outcome on what should really be a much improved radar experience.
Yeah but given the general myopia of stealth AI (which I’m not bemoaning because it prevents stealth from being so difficult as to be not fun) planning for distant enemies hasn’t really been necessary thus far.
True. I have treated their notional cones of vision pretty conservatively, so I’m probably treating it as more of an issue than it is. I also haven’t ever dropped aug points into the stealth radar upgrade stuff, so I don’t know literally how long their vision even is.

In my defense, I think Jensen would approve given that he has no ethical qualms hacking into all his coworkers’ computers and looting their offices.

@juv3nal That’s odd. Let me have a look at the backend, see if I can figure out what happened there.
Ah, OK. Lots of links triggered the ’this might be spam’ algorithm. I’ll tweak that upwards a few notches…
