GDC: Failure Workshop

The "Failure Workshop" at GDC yesterday featured developers presenting about games that had failed and what they learned from the experience.

Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, made a somewhat unexpected appearance on the panel in which he revealed that early purchasers of Elemental: War of Magic would receive a free copy of the expansion pack.

Gamasutra’s full coverage of the workshop.

  1. That’s really interesting, particularly the stuff about Elemental. It’s interesting to see exactly what went wrong there, and just how important it is to have someone actually keeping track of what’s going on, and managing the project as a whole.

  2. I really liked Masters of Magic and was looking forward to Elemental, but I guess I’m glad I never got around to picking it up, unless they fixed the issues with patches.
