1. Due to this blog and other recommendations from Mefight Club, I am now the owner of Carcassonne and Pandemic. Board games can still be fun. Don’t let Monopoly ruin it for you.

  2. Nice. I’m really into boardgames but the only boardgames blog I’ve read is Downtime Town which the owner had already stopped updating by the time I found it.

  3. Ooh. Thanks. My board game obsession knows no bounds.

  4. This blog is pretty much the cause of my newfound fixation on boardgames. I’ve just seen so many games (both on this blog, and on places linked from this blog) that make me go “Ooh, that looks fun!”

  5. It’s because of this guy I got Twilight Struggle, Pandemic and Dominion, and I’ve not regretted a thing.

One of the links on the right of AD is to the Cardboard Children column on RPS, which is Robert Florence’s other, more recent, board game outlet. And if you really like him, you should have a look on Youtube for Burntistoun, the BBC Scotland comedy show.

Thanks for the kind feedback, everyone!

  7. Yeah, I’ve been reading Cardboard Children and following Robert Florence since the beginning of Consolevania. Watched Burnistoun a bit on Youtube but I think I prefer his (board- and video-) game-based stuff.

Gamefilter is a community weblog based in spirit and intent on the great work of Matt Haughey and his staff at Metafilter. It's all about sharing links to interesting stuff on the web, but with a narrower focus on gaming-related links -- good stuff that other people might not have already seen -- and talking about them.

Anyone can join for the low low price of zero dollars, and once you're a member, you have the senses-shattering power to post new stuff right from the front end of the site, and talk about that stuff in the comment threads. You don't need an account to read GFi, but as well as giving you The Power To Post, membership also lets you

  • Thank and Favorite all the goodness
  • Build a profile page with all your stuff in one convenient place
  • Send private messages and friend/follow your favorite GFites and their unstoppable Gfiltering style
