We are all such dirty, dirty crossposters. not that there’s anything wrong with that, I guess.
Huh. The more inside part of my post is totally missing. Yeah, via RPS in this case, and apparently there was a mefi post a couple days ago that I missed.
So but I have no idea if Dead Island will be any good, and generally speaking have no use for game trailers that don’t give a clear picture of actual gameplay because, look, I’m not paying for the cutscenes or the intro movie.
But this is solid film-making. It’s a simple conceit but it’s executed very, very nicely and man does it work. I almost want to be able to be credulous about how this maps to the game its advertising, because I want to be this knocked over by a game. Barring that, a great teaser will do I suppose.
What I take from the trailer is that the people developing the game intend it to be emotional. Most zombie games seem to just use zombies as humans-it’s-okay-to-kill, but if they’re actually attempting to push something different I have hope it’ll turn out to be good.

Agreed. A lot of the internets are all “the actual game will never live up to that” but I want to believe. In related zombie game news, Telltale are going to be making a Walking Dead game (episodic series of games?).
heh. I need to get the hang of there being actual b-quote/quote buttons.
The gameplay screenshots on IGN make it look like a cross between Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, which isn’t terribly exciting, but damn, that is a nice trailer.
Looks like a few people have reordered the teaser into chronological format. Here’s one
Director is only 20. :o
I finally got around to watching the trailer last night. It was extremely well done, It thought, even though I can see why some people find it very disturbing. I was really impressed by the original – borne out by the reverse chronology video, which shows a much less interesting take on the narrative.
As a teaser trailer, I can’t think of many other games that have had a more successful one – it really has made the game stand out from the pack. Let’s hope the game itself is any good.
Oh, and I came across this too, which I though was cute: Geoff trying to watch the trailer.
It looks like there’s going to be a movie.
P.S. Yay! My first comment here!
More amusing in concept than in execution, but somebody’s done up a minecraft version.
Mind=Blown
