EA/DICE Bails Out on PC BF1943 and BC2 Onslaught

EA/DICE has officially announced that the PC version of Battlefield 1943 and the Onslaught mode for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 have been canceled. This may come as no surprise to many after repeated delays, including when EA refunded BF1943 preorders. [Via]

It comes after a baffling series of events, including supposedly incorrect listings on the EA Store, and Battlefield 943 showing up in Nvidia reference drivers released only two weeks ago.

This comes at a time when DICE’s focus is shifting towards the upcoming Battlefield 3. Lead designer for Battlefield 3, David Goldfarb has hinted that a major BF3 announcement will be made tomorrow, February 4th, via Twitter.

  1. This sucks, but I guess it’s at least partially my fault. I enjoy Bad Company 2, but I’m not buying the Vietnam DLC until it’s at least half off.

See what you’ve done to me, Steam?

  2. Did BC2 not sell well?

  3. PC Gaming is bigger and more vibrant than it’s ever been. EA is spectacularly out of touch. I wish them nothing but ill.

On the other hand, I have little to no interest in their increasingly large and lucrative stable of war-porn games, so: shrug.
