Lugaru Mac Store Fiasco

What happens when you release your source code and then someone else starts selling it on the Mac Store. Wolfire Games is in dispute with iCoder, Inc. after the latter released a ported version of their game Lugaru for $2 on the Mac Store after the official version, Lugaru HD (Recently a part of the the Wolfire-organized Humble Indie Bundle), had been on the store for over a week. So far the Mac store has not responded.

  1. The Lugaru/Lugaru thing, however has an added sting for Rosen because his team at Wolfire are big on trust and light on copy protection.

Man, this pisses me off more than anything about this story. The creators of Lugaru were cool enough to release their game with no DRM, and to even release their source code “In the spirit of the Humble Indie Bundle.” And then someone comes along and does this to them.

  2. Wow, that’s pretty brazen. I guess it’s almost inevitable though, given the number of assholes in the world.

  3. Yeah, the balls involved in this kind of flat-out larceny or of significant diameter.
