Kentucky Route Zero

Originally funded with Kickstarter with a goal of a paltry (by today's standards) $6,500, Kentucky Route Zero is a magic realist adventure game in five acts about a secret highway in Kentucky and the mysterious folks who travel it by Jake Elliott, Tamas Kemenczy, and Ben Babbitt of Cardboard Computer. The third act has just been released. There have also been 2 free releases which both feature content related to but not found in the game proper: the art gallery visit Limits & Demonstrations and the Godot reminiscent The Entertainment.

Popmatters/Moving Pixels podcast on Act I and Act II.

  1. Love Kentucky Route Zero so much. I still haven’t finished Act 1, which is a testament to my ludicrous backlog more than anything else, but this game is just so beautifully crafted and atmospheric that it makes me happy indeed.

  2. Yeah, I need to get this. I skipped the last time it was on sale in favor of Gone Home and Papers Please, but it’s definitely missing from my “indie-worthwhiles-of-2013” list.

  3. Wot I Think of Act III (which I haven’t actually got round to playing yet though from what I’ve read on twitter makes it sound better than acts I and II).

  4. It’s also currently on sale on Humble for 18.74 (includes steam activation, regular price $25).

  5. Just found (via) these two great articles on my lunchbreak that unpack some of the references in Act I and Act II.
