Game Addiction Used Para La Causa Del Bien

Memrise is a dead simple farming game much like the Zen Garden in Plants vs. Zombies but instead of fertilizer, spray water and phonography, this garden is kept alive by learning. Each plant represents another word or small phrase in another language and they live by your responses to randomized questions and die by your inattention. [via]

With timely intervals of constant review similar to SuperMemo and online leaderboards for motivation and competition, has Memrise finally made language learning as easy as playing a game?

  1. This seems so promising, but the interface is bugging out on me in Chrome and Firefox in Windows 7, to the point that it’s unusable.

  2. It was working a lot better at 3 AM. I think they’ve been found out and are having their servers slammed.

  3. Cool, I’ll keep trying back!

  4. It was totally unplayable until I created a username/password, and then it worked! So if you can’t get it going, try that. Dunno why they give you the option of playing without logging in if it only works when you do!

Frustrations aside, this looks like fun. Thanks for posting it, Chronister!
